I didn't know too much about Korean culture until a few years back. I mean, there were two Korean girls in my high school days but they were both raised by American families, hence too Americanized... >.>

But the first time I saw a hanbok was actually in Soul Calibur 2. Seung Mina was the character who wore a lovely blue hanbok as a clothing option, and wouldn't you know that in order to appeal to fans they exaggerated the skirt movement physics a LOT. (she didn't wear pantaloons so you ended up seeing her bare legs underneath... XDD )

So yeah, I've been fascinated by hanboks ever since. ^^

I am sorry for the delay in my response. My computer broke down. So I am using my sister's computer. It is slow and uncomfortable.

Anyway, I am not good at English and could not make myself understood in English, But One thing that is certain is that what you said is interesting. I know about Seung mi na of Soul Calibur and blue hanbok.(but i don't know the face that she didn't wear pantaloons.)

If you want to know some more about Korea, ask me in and out of season. Thank you.

Have a nice day!

Oh sure! I'm not too full of questions right now, but I did see plenty of cute Korean dancers on YouTube. One happened to wear a hoopskirt under her hanbok though. Can girls choose what to wear underneath? Maybe it depends on whether they work independently or as part of a larger culture, like Kisaeng. I dunno... >.>

Um...I don't know. I had never heard of it. I tried googling but couldn’t find anything relevant. If you are curious, you'll type "한복 속옷(hanbok underwear)" into the Google search engine.

Ah ok. ^^ I did copy that into the google search engine and came up with many results, although this is the closest I could come up with to resembling a hoopskirt:

That's really more victorian inspired though, with a cage and tight bodice. But I guess these days girls over in any part of the southern Korean peninsula can choose whatever they want to wear as a petticoat... XDD

Some of the most gorgeous photos in existence! One of those especially shows a little chima/petticoat exposure as well as a high heel in place of a traditional wooden sandal. But usually this is the kind of stuff I go for as inspiration. XDD

Btw I'm still going for a floofy crinoline skirt-style hanbok, if only as an anime portrait. I'd like to send you a link, but this will have to be finished first... XP
